Winter Catch Up

The flow of household donations has slowed a bit during the month, but that doesn't slow down the volunteer workers at N2N. This gives us time to clean up and straighten shelves and make new displays to attract sales.
A new display behind the cash register features some of the unique doll donations.
The furniture area is looking neat and organized after several hours of serious sorting and rearranging were done.
The hardware department had a much needed overhaul and is looking good once again. Just keeping the shelves straightened is a full time job.

Reger & Katherine Honored for Service

Reger and Katherine Smith were honored tonight before the N2N Board Meeting began.
The honored guests.
Roy Wightman, board chairman shares his thoughts on the years of service Reger and Katherine have given to N2N. Their humble spirit and belief in the center made for great leadership.
The Smiths were presented with a plaque to commemorate their service to Neighbor to Neighbor.

Volunteer Quarterly Potluck

Lucy is a very creative cook and is not afraid to try different combinations of things together. Here she is adding the dressing to her salad below. The salad Lucy whipped up had black beans, corn, butter beans, red and green peppers, celery, green olives and an avocado guacamole type dressing. Served on a big platter and heaped high, it was delicious. Table #1 was nearly full. We were happy to have so many of the men folk join us too. We couldn't get along without their fixing expertise for all the mechanical and electrical things that are donated. The volunteers at table #2 enjoy catching up with what each other has been up to since last they were together. The potluck theme was Happy New Year and the tables were decorated appropriately with streamers and bottles of grape bubbly for us to enjoy. Volunteers go through the potluck line to sample the good food. What a variety too. We have some good cooks in our group. Gayle cuts the first piece of the quarterly volunteer birthday cake. It was a carrot cake and oh so very good. Lucy is in a "jam" as she enjoys some of Laura's delicious homemade bread. What a treat for all of us. Thanks Laura for that special touch. Roy, N2N's board chairman, spoke to the volunteers for a few minutes about the hopes and dreams for the center in the coming months and what we can do to be a part of this plan. He opened with the scripture in Proverbs 3:6 "In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths."
